The top-secret menu was finally revealed as chef, teacher and Best Health food expert Paul Finkelstein, and four of his culinary arts students, took part in a royal dining experience, preparing a meal for Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge.
The dinner at Ottawa’s Rideau Hall was considered a "coast-to-coast celebration of Canadian cuisine," says Finkelstein, and included muskox and yak, arctic char, and cheese from across the country.
The Celebration of Youth reception took place Thursday at 6 p.m. as part of the royal couple’s nine-day tour of Canada.
Finkelstein says it was a great mentorship opportunity for the kids who got to work under renowned chef Louis Charest, and assist in preparing such a significant meal.
"It was a great accomplishment for them to be cooking for such important people in the world," he says. "The students said William kept cracking jokes and that Kate was very sweet."
The four students from Stratford Northwestern Secondary School were among 22 students who joined Rideau Hall executive chef Louis Charest. The grade 10 Stratford students also run the Screaming Avocado café at their high school, an initiative created by Finkelstein to provide healthy lunches to students.
