What Is Behind Kim Kardashian West’s New Strict Diet & Fitness Regime

The Kardashian trainer has taken Kim’s workout to the next level
Younger sis Khloé Kardashian may have been all about the revenge body, but right now it’s Kim’s toned physique that has us very curious about her diet and workouts.
And it seems her strong body is due to working out with body builder and trainer Melissa Alcantara, as revealed on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. (Find out what a personal trainer can, and can’t, do for you.)
So how did Kim find Melissa?
“I was looking on Instagram and this body builder popped up on my page and she had gained 70 pounds in her pregnancy. Her kid’s like six now. She is like ripped,” Kim tells mom Kris Jenner on the episode. Kim met up with her and called Melissa super inspiring. “She could help direct my food and really get me on an amazing path. If I was 10 per cent like her it would be life-changing. Like my whole arms and back. It’s mostly food. I gotta have this lifestyle. I gotta try.”
And so Kim met Melissa in New York. Her diet, which Kim refers to as a crazy strict diet, Melissa says focuses on “making food simple” and eating fresh and food meals. Later, Melissa visits Kim’s house to clear out the kitchen of “processed crap.” Packaged snacks – such as vanilla wafers, graham crackers and rice crispy treat – were all tossed. (This is how you stop eating processed foods for good.)
It is not just about Kim’s diet, of course.
For the workouts, the Kardashian trainer mixes things up. “I like low intensity interval training. I have high intensity and then weight training,” says the trainer, whose high intensity training looks something like this.
She then leads Kim through a workout at Gunnar Peterson’s Los Angeles studio. KKW does squats, lunges with weights and a rope workout. (Squats are only effective if you are doing them right. This is how to do the perfect squat.)
Clearly motivated and inspired, she shares that she knows she could get abs. “I’ve never been pushed to get them, but I know I could.”
Melissa, too, is impressed with Kim’s diligence. “Kim trains hard and has great work ethic and it’s a pleasure to train her. Let’s keep making these muscles girl,” the trainer posted on Kim’s Instagram.
